The Utrecht Memory and Heritage Network brings together scholars working on how societies remember, forget, and reinterpret the past. We study memory and heritage as dynamic, contested processes that shape identities, institutions, and public debates in the present. Building on diverse research traditions at Utrecht University, the Network fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and dialogue with cultural and societal partners. Through research, events, and public engagement, we contribute critical perspectives on the role of the past in open, democratic societies.
